The CenterWatch team is comprised of passionate and highly-accomplished clinical trials and healthcare industry experts dedicated to providing leading publications and services for clinical research professionals and patients.
Kenneth A. Getz
Founder and Owner
Ken is the founder and owner of CenterWatch, a leading publisher in the clinical trials industry. He is also the chairman of CISCRP—a nonprofit organization that he founded to educate and raise public awareness of the clinical research enterprise—and a Senior Research Fellow at the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development where he studies R&D management and operating models, investigative site, outsourcing and study volunteer trends and policies.
A well-known speaker at conferences, symposia, universities and corporations, Ken has published extensively in peer-review journals, books and in the trade press. He is the author of two nationally-recognized books for patients and their advocates entitled Informed Consent: A Guide to the Risks and Benefits of Volunteering for Clinical Trials and The Gift of Participation. He is the recipient of the 2006 Innovator in Clinical Research award from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, the Drug Information Association's 2009 award for Distinguished Service and a 2010 Tufts University Distinction Award nominee. Ken has held a number of board appointments in the private and public sectors including serving on the Institute of Medicine's Clinical Research Roundtable, the DIA Foundation, the Consortium to Examine Clinical Research Ethics at Johns Hopkins University and the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative established by the FDA and Duke University. He is on the editorial boards of Controlled Clinical Trials, Research Practitioner, and the Drug Information Journal and writes a bi-monthly column for Applied Clinical Trials.
Ken holds an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree, Phi Beta Kappa, from Brandeis University. Prior to founding CenterWatch, Ken worked for more than seven years in management consulting where he assisted biopharmaceutical companies in developing and implementing business strategies to improve clinical development performance.
Joan A. Chambers
Chief Operating Officer
As the Chief Operating Officer for CenterWatch, Joan is responsible for the business operations, financial performance, marketing, and sales of the company along with setting strategic direction.
A well-known speaker at industry conferences, Joan has presented on a wide variety of topics, including Phase IV, Investigative Site Financials, Clinical Research Careers, Cost Management and Patient Recruitment. For five years, she was an instructor for Barnett International's CRA/CRC programs on the site identification/qualification process.
Prior to joining CenterWatch in April 2010, Joan spent two and a half years with Cambridge Healthtech Institute as Senior Director of Marketing & Operations-Publications; two and half years with the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development at Tufts University as Director of Strategic Marketing & Development; seven and a half years with Thomson CenterWatch as Senior Director of Marketing & Sales; and four years working for PAREXEL International as Site Selection Specialist. Joan holds a B.S. in Marketing.
Cheryl Appel Rosenfeld
Editor-in-Chief
Cheryl has been a newspaper journalist for more than 25 years. She is responsible for the editorial direction of all CenterWatch newsletters and publications, including The CenterWatch Monthly and CWWeekly, as well as books, manuals, special reports and Clinical Trials Today, the online news resource on www.centerwatch.com. Previously, Cheryl was Assistant Business Editor/Special Sections Editor at The Boston Globe and Assistant Business Editor at the Boston Herald. She holds a B.A. from Brandeis University and an M.S. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
Steve Zisson
Business Development and Sr. Account Representative
Steve recently moved into a Business Development role at CenterWatch after leading the Editorial Department. For more than 10 years, Steve has covered contract research organizations, biopharmaceutical companies, investigative sites, and the eClinical technology space. Steve was responsible for the editorial direction of all CenterWatch newsletters and publications, such as The CenterWatch Monthly and CWWeekly, as well as books, manuals, special reports, and Clinical Trials Today, an online news resource on www.centerwatch.com. An experienced journalist, Steve was previously a managing editor at healthcare publisher, HCPro. For many years, he worked as a daily newspaper reporter and has a B.A. from Salem State College.
Niki Eastley
Senior Manager, Internet Operations and Development
In May 2010, Niki rejoined CenterWatch as a manager of the Internet Operations and Development team. She has over 10 years experience managing and supporting clinical research industry websites and online services. Prior to rejoining CenterWatch, Niki has supported industry nonprofit organizations as webmaster and database manager as well as providing operational support for online services and marketing initiatives. Other roles, outside of the industry, include IT manager and webmaster for several small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Previously, Niki was a member of CenterWatch’s Internet Operations Team from 2000 to 2005 and was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the CenterWatch website and databases—the last 1.5 years as the team’s manager. Niki has a B.A. degree from Boston College.
Tracy Trundle
Research Analyst
Tracy has been a part of the CenterWatch team for four years. She is responsible for maintaining the drug information data for all of CenterWatch, including the Drugs in Clinical Trials Database and the FDA Approved Drugs and New Medical Therapies™ pages on www.centerwatch.com. Tracy also contributes to the editorial publications, including The CenterWatch Monthly and CWWeekly. Tracy holds a B.A. in Biology from the University of Colorado.
Melissa Nazzaro
Manager, Advertising Sales
Melissa has more than 10 years of sales experience within the healthcare industry. For the past seven years, she has built and managed the Advertising Sales department of CenterWatch. Working closely with industry product and service providers such as CROs and EDC/Data Management and Patient Recruitment companies, Melissa supports their promotional efforts to increase their market exposure through advertising in CenterWatch's varied media outlets. Melissa holds a bachelor's degree in English from Framingham State College.
Amy Fontaine
Marketing
Amy has been with CenterWatch for nearly two years and is responsible for developing marketing and promotional campaigns to support the Sales team and increase brand awareness and recognition of all of CenterWatch's products and services. Prior to CenterWatch, Amy spent eight years as the Operations Manager for a small technology company working on various business, marketing and sales initiatives. She also spent two years in the Communications Department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute covering a variety of topics for its internal weekly newsletter and overseeing the production of its many publications. Amy holds a B.A. in Journalism from Utica College of Syracuse University.
Paul Gualdoni
Manager, Design and Production
Paul recently rejoined CenterWatch managing the production of the print publications and providing creative support to Marketing and the CenterWatch Web presence. Paul holds a BFA in Communication Arts and Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and has more than 12 years of experience in sundry design roles including publishing, marketing and Web site design.
